Covid Cartoon circa March 15, 2020
Another blast from the past. This comic is from March 15, 2020, days after the schools closed and we hadn't the understanding that we do today...
…it was a different time. It felt like we really were “in it together,” if only because we didn’t know what we were getting ourselves into. We were unified in our confusion, as the federal messaging around the virus was largely quiet. I was getting a lot of my information from Japanese news (the Sunday Morning talk show was my favorite), and that helped me expect that we were probably going to close the school and buckle up for something long-term here. Unemotionally, the Japanese talking heads reassured me with objective facts and analysis.
A week prior, on March 8, 2020, Anthony Fauci told the audience of 60 Minutes that masks were unnecessary and not particularly useful unless you were in the medical field. We now know he was lying to us in order to prevent a toilet paper-like shortage, while at the same time he made apparent from the very beginning that the American people can not be trusted with basic scientific information. Instead, a campaign of lies and division in favor of an illusion of control followed. So conceited was this narcissistic liar that he told the American people, “I am the science.”
We now know that the top-down measures from the CDC were powerless to stop the spread, “flatten the curve,” or any other such nonsense; it was a litany of “rules for thee, but not for me.” Politicians partied while punishing the rest of us by shutting down businesses, closing schools, disrupting our lives, and tyrannically controlling society for nothing more than an illusion of safety. The classist disparity in “essential workers” vs. working from home, the poisonous rhetoric around workers and other people as vectors for disease, the unpaid quarantining, the utter lack of empathy or logic—do you remember what that fear did to people? Did you swallow the bribe they sent us in our own taxpayer dollars as “stimulus checks,” a pittance that has only declined in value with the inevitable inflation that we see today? Do you forgive Fauci for lying to us and sowing division for his God complex?
What silliness I have depicted here in my ignorance: the virus was no beastly black belt. Even if it were, Team Human (“hooman” lol) is not one, complete, unified entity. Covid smashed that idea to bits, made clear to us that we are not in the same boat, nor even the same storm; nor are we allowed to ask where the storm came from, or workshop how to build a better boat. No, we all must drown in our ignorance and fear together.
What have you learned since March 2020?
Great article. The last three years has been something I could have never imagined. It has more than disrupted our lives, it has down right brought us a place of ugliness in our world. Unlike 911 when we all came together, the Covid measures put in place by “the media/pharma/government” divided us. I see both as a direct causation of the powers to be btw. Pharma/Media/government are one in the same.
As far as Fauci. That one never surprised me as I have been fighting for medical freedom long before Covid.
As far as the masks and Fauci lying. The fact that Fauci is a liar is the truth, but in general the masks actually do not work for Covid. That has been proven over and over again. The masks are a sign of control nothing more. A sign of division between those who believe in natural health and common sense and those who buy into the fear. From the moment the masks were pulled out I knew better, but still complied for a couple months due to our business and putting on a show. I learned to be compassionate to those who were fearful. Especially the elderly. All while knowing the masks were part of the hoax.
Anyways .. Heidi’s very short synopsis of the last three years on our drive to church this morning. God help us all.
Don’t listen to government, medical “experts,” pharma, & sheeple doctors.
